The Amplifli looks good but no ethernet ports on the AP & the Unfi is over kil & I dont want to attach saucer shaped devices to the wall Looks like Netgear has firmware issues all the time & that bought back memories from 20 years ago I looked at UniFi, AmpliFi, Orbi etc etc etc Some parts like the garage are dead spots in the corners & probably the slope in the yard Ok so I marched around the house with my iphone & am getting -30 to -40gb which is excellent It is extremely annoying when trying to test sprinkler wiring & you connect over wifi & turn a valve on & you loose signal randomly & you are sitting 1/2 way up a slope trying to turn it off. Right now theres 2 airport express 2nd gen upstairs to extend the network & one newer flat one downstairs that randomly blinks or looses signal. This is why i was looking at something that could replace the time caps in the office ( I can hardwire the time caps & disable wifi on that) & add 2 mesh points My main issue is the time caps (2nd gen 802.11 b/gn) doesn't have enough coverage, so if I'm in the garage or in the yard I will loose signal which is aggravating all phones, imac, macbooks etc etc including 2 nest thermostats & 1 rainmachine controller

Ps3,xb360,xbone, apple tv & samsung tv are all going into that 8 port switchĮverything else is on wifi. One wire from the trendnet goes into wall jack giving ethernet to every room that has an outlet Right now everything that is wired synology nas, time capsule, vonage phone router all connect to a trendnet 16 port router that connects to the lan segment of the time caps My experiences with Netgear & Linksys have been varied which is what finally pushed me to apple aiport 10 years backĪt one point I got fed up with the constant security issues & built an openbsd box with custom ipf rules.which worked wellīack in the day,but was an over engineered solution Its just the phones & laptops that use the wifi & an ancient samsung clx-4170 that is connected to the airport express port in bridge mode So all the tvs now get hardwired to a small 8 port trendnet & also any consoles so all media has a hardwired connectionĤ. To the telco & replaced all the phone jacks with RJ5 plates & connectors giving me an instant wired network all over the house & each room New home so it was pre-wired with cat 5e all over for the phone & i simply cut the wire at the junction where it would go Time Caps connected to 16 port Trendnet switch which connects to cat 5 in wall. I forgot the extenders have no network ports.ģ. Keep powering up devices one at a time about a minute apart until the network is back up
